this morning terror investigations are underway after three attacks in three american cities in just 24 hours. nicole is in the newsroom following the latest developments from overnight. security is heightened in the new york city area after multiple suspicious devices were found overnight in a nearby in new jersey... here's a live look at as authorities look into signs of a possible terror cell. found containing up to five devices. the items were found in a trash can - about 500 feet from a train station. a robot was sent to look at the items triggering an explosion. the f-b-i says new jersey transit has resumed operations and area at downtown elizabeth has been cleared. this ... coming less than 48 hours after an explosion in the new york city's chelsea neighborhood. new york police are looking for a 28 year old man for questioning in connection to that chelsea

they are looking for ahmad khan rahami-- a naturalized citizen from afghanistan. officials say he could be armed and dangerous. overnight, five people were taken into custody for questioning in connection to the explosion. they were pulled over in brooklyn last night. investigators say the explosive was placed under a dumpster saturday and sent shrapnel flying ... injuring 29 people. they've all since been released from hospitals. determine if the manhattan explosion is connected to an earlier blast saturday in seaside park, new jersey. a motive is not yet clear... but at this point authorities do not believe it's not related to any specific terror group. and finally to minnesota, where we now know the man suspected of stabbing nine people at a mall. investigators are now looking into this attack as a possible act of terrorism. we're told a young somali man dressed as a private

appeared to be a kitchen knife, and allegedly made at least one reference to allah before the attack. somali community leaders in minnesota identify the suspect as 22-year-old dahir adan. nine people were hurt before an off duty police officer shot and killed the attacker... isis has claimed responsibility for the violence -- calling the attacker a "soldier of the islamic state..." more breaking news this morning. officials in door county say there are crashed in ephraim last night. officials say they got a call around 8- 30 about a crash that was heard around 8-30...after a plane circled the area. it was found in peninsula state park. authorities do not know how many people were on board the private plane. crews continue to investigate the crash. oak creek police are searching for a driver ... who repeatedly slammed into a squad car and then fled the scene. . now police are sharing video of the incident-- in hopes they'll find the

festival kicks off in germany. beer lovers' spirits remained strong despite rain and strict security at celebration. the mayor of munich got the annual party started saturday afternoon by tapping the first keg. bands and beer wagons rolled through the city ahead of festivities in the traditional "march of the innkeepers." last year people drank more than seven million liters of beer! this year's oktoberfest runs through october 3rd. architects in france are exploring the mysteries of medieval construction by creating a thirteenth century castle from scratch.

washington high schools athletic field rehabilitated. they hope it will bring more families to the area.... and increase property values. across america this morning --- the heat is on out west. and a gas shortage has some states declare a state of emergency. jessob is in the newsroom with details. drivers in the southeast are facing lines at the pump... and when they get a chance to fill up --- there might be no gas at all. a leak earlier this month caused a closure of a key pipeline that carries prices have gone up an average of 10 cents a gallon and tennessee, and 16 cents in georgia. six states across the region -- alabama, georgia, north carolina, south carolina, tennessee and virginia -- have declared states of emergency, relaxing limits on fuel transportation to try to stave off shortages and price spikes. and this morning more than 160 people are recovering from heat-related issues after
